WCHS has three buildings at the Wright County Fair—the Welker Schoolhouse, the Collingwood cabin, and the Bonk-Aisleiger (vertical log) cabin. Volunteers staff the two larger buildings and provide some interpretation during fair hours. To sign up for a volunteer shift, which includes free entry into the fair, email Hannah.King@wrighthistory.org.
A heritage classroom is run Friday morning of the fair, thanks to dedicated teaching volunteers, allowing children grades 1-6 to enjoy a one-room schoolhouse experience. This opportunity is free and open to the public; spaces are limited and RSVP’s to 763-682-7323 are required. Children are encouraged to dress as pioneer children would and embrace the experience (outhouse not included).
